Nathalie Emmanuel loved acting and was cast in the theatre production of Lion King when she was only 10. From there she got a gig on the Liverpool soap opera Hollyoaks, and the world watched as she grew into a total babe. But after 4 years her time on the show came to an and, and it didn’t take long for Game of Thrones to come scoop the young beauty up.

Nathalie Joanne Emmanuel was born on 2 March 1989 in Essex, England. She is of Dominican and Saint Lucian decent and has an older sister named Louise. She went to St Hilda’s school until she was 11, then did her last year at Westcliff High School for girls. Her mother was extremely supportive of her acting, and when Nathalie was just 10, she was chosen to play young Nala in the stage show of The Lion King.

Nathalie then caught the attention of a casting director on the UK soap opera Hollyoaks, and at 17 was cast as Sasha Valentine. The show was shot in Liverpool and during her time Nathalie found her character dealing with gangsters, prostitutes, drinking and heroin addiction.

Her time at Hollyoaks lasted four years, and when it was done in 2010, she had grown into an absolute stunner.

At the ripe age of 24 she had the opportunity to audition for the third season of Game of Thrones, as the soft-spoken gorgeous translator and handmaid Missandei. A huge thrones fan herself, she went to the audition nervous, then didn’t hear anything for weeks. Assuming they’d gone with another actress she went on with her life, looking for the next gig.

Then one day while returning with her hands full of groceries, her agent called her and told her the good news.

As is the nature of the show young Nathalie wasn’t sure how long her time in Westeros would last, but be it the author’s hand or her jaw-dropping good looks, she’s managed to stay on as a regular cast member.
